While multiboot may be a good format for disk based booting of multiple operating systems, it's not suficient for network booting. NILO will need to run a multiboot to tagged image conversion programs. This will analyze the multiboot image for as much of the information as possible, and command line options and a config file for the rest.
Multiboot is also the default format for GRUB and OSKit.
